Luther College’s 2017 Commencement ceremony will be held in Carlson Stadium at 10 a.m., Sunday, May 21.
The ceremony is a ticketed event. Each graduate is allowed up to six tickets. On-campus graduates may pick up their tickets at the Grad Finale, March 14 and 15, in the Dahl Centennial Union lobby. Mid-semester graduates, student teachers, Chicago Social Work Practicum students, and Rochester nursing students will receive their tickets in the mail if they have provided the college with an off-campus address for their program. Tickets for students studying abroad, or for those students without a separate off-campus address listed will be sent to their parents. If students are married, have a non-traditional family situation, or would like their names placed on a waiting list for additional tickets, contact the ticket office at (563) 387-1357.
Caps and gowns, compliments of the Luther Book Shop, will be available at the Grad Finale. Graduates unable to attend may have a friend pick up their cap, gown, and tickets. After the Grad Finale, caps and gowns may be picked up at the Luther College Book Shop.
At the Commencement ceremony, physically challenged guests and their families can use their tickets to sit on the Carlson Stadium track. Luther provides a wheelchair shuttle service from the Regents Center and Farwell Circle drives to help guests to the stadium.There will also be a limited amount of alternative seating for physically challenged guests and their families on the Dahl Centennial Union Terrace. Those with a hearing impairment should contact the Campus Programming Office in advance to request the services of a certified signer and to secure special seating.
Jolesch Photography will take individual pictures of each graduate while shaking hands with the President during the Commencement ceremony. Jolesch will contact each senior, giving them the opportunity to purchase these photographs.
Guests without tickets will be able to view the live stream of the ceremony in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life and Marty’s, in the lower level of Dahl Centennial Union. This live stream is also accessible for remote viewing via the Internet at stream.luther.edu.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the Regents Center. Call (563) 387-1732 after 7 a.m. Sunday, May 21, for weather related announcements. Should the ceremony be moved to the Regents Center, four tickets will be valid per graduate; other attendees are invited to view the ceremony on a large screen in the Center for Faith and Life.
