Class Notes
Giving List

Spring 2013

Dear Classmates,

I hope this note finds you well and looking forward to the many splendid spring and summer things ahead!  It’s still a little chilly in Texas, but that hasn’t stopped us from getting outside for some winter flag football.  In case you haven’t heard, football is a big deal in Texas.  Even when you’re age 4!

We just had our first t-ball practice in preparation for spring, and I happily wore my Luther windbreaker.  Soon I’ll be wearing the team’s attire – Cubs.  My husband is quite pleased to hear this since (1) he’s a huge Chicago Cubs fan (I’ve always liked the White Sox) and (2) he’s a Wartburg alum.  We finally found something we can agree on – our son’s team.

Who do you cheer for?  A team?  An organization?  A person?  An animal?  Maybe it’s because I turned 40 last fall or maybe it’s because I’m a parent, but I find myself much more engaged in ways to better the world around me.  I feel very blessed to have a strong faith-based college education, which ultimately led to a solid career.  Giving back seems the best way to pay it forward – donating my time or money makes me happy and shows my son what matters most.  In fact, I finally got around to setting up a yearly donation to Luther, so I don’t have to worry about remembering each year (did I mention I just turned 40?)! It was all done online (www.givenow.luther.edu) and was really easy.  Plus, it is tax deductible.  Bonus!

Thanks so much to those of you who do donate each year.  It’s because of alumni like you that not only make Luther great, but this world a whole lot better.  I would love to hear from you.  Please drop me a note with your latest news, question, or concerns.  Heck, I’d love to hear if you even read this or if, you’re like me, and just jump ahead to the class notes!

Fondly,

Joanna Foy

Don't forget your Annual Fund giving!

Each year nearly 9,000 alumni, parents, and friends support the Annual Fund with gifts from $5 to $50,000. Strong support from alumni helps Luther secure additional funds from foundations and corporations, and your gift each year helps us reach our goal of 27% alumni giving.  Here’s how your class—and surrounding classes—did in 2012:

Class of 1994 total giving in 2012:  $56,221 from 21% of the class

Class of 1995 total giving in 2012:  $23,874 from 22% of the class

Class of 1996 total giving in 2012:  $33,115 from 17% of the class

Your gift can boost the impact your class has on current students!  Please use the enclosed envelope or visit www.givenow.luther.edu to show your support.  Thank you!

WITH SINCERE GRATITUDE:
This list includes all gifts received January 1, 2012, to December 31, 2012. Making a gift each and every year is an investment in the lives of Luther students and a show of support for the Luther College community.  Thank you for your support of Luther College through your giving.
