President Paula J. Carlson

Class of 1983 Fall 2014 Letter

Fall 2014

Dear Classmates,

Happy fall! Homecoming was particularly special this year, as Luther inaugurated its first female president, Dr. Paula J. Carlson. Carlson, who began her presidency in July and has longstanding ties with Luther, comes to the position from St. Olaf, where she was vice president of mission and liaison to the Board of Regents. She has an impressive resume, with broad experience in liberal arts and leadership. I was fortunate to attend the inauguration ceremony and hear Carlson's acceptance speech outlining her vision for the future of Luther. It was wonderful to witness the large number of students in attendance as well as the enthusiastic standing ovation they gave Dr. Carlson. The bright fall foliage and sunshine were the perfect additions to this special event and a wonderful weekend.
