I was recently chatting with a classmate, catching up on families and friends. A recurring theme was transition. Some of us are caring for our parents; some are reacting to an empty nest and downsizing; others are considering retirement. Many of us have seen the end of college bills and watched our children strike out into the world to establish their own lives. And more than a few of us have welcomed them back home. There is a happy group who have been blessed with grandchildren. Somehow I thought at some point our lives would settle down and change and difficult decisions would become fewer and further between. But there is always change, and looking forward to the next ten years, I imagine they will continue to be as transformative as our years at Luther were, full of new opportunities and responsibilities.
