If your short-term memory doesn’t register October 12-14, 2014, your long-term should recall that it will be 75 years since we graduated from Luther College in the class of 1939 – to that date the largest class Luther had attracted. With only 11 members still living, we may be able to hold our reunion in a phone booth – but I hope not. We had seven at our 70th, but I believe five of them have died since then. Records report that the class of 1939 had five donors (45%) and $5,775.00 in contributions, as of December 31, 2013. That isn’t bad and we can’t know circumstances, but I encourage all to send in something. I know money is not always available as I have been retired for 34 years. They used to promote marriages by saying two can live as cheaply as one. It turns out that two can live as cheaply as one – but only half as long!
