Beyond the Bubble

In January 2014, the Luther College Career Center is launching a new program, “Beyond the Bubble”. This program consists of a series seminars designed to equip students personally and professionally for life after college. (Note: all seminars require on-line pre-registration.)

Who are these seminars for? All Luther students!

In Professional Development Seminars, students will gain skills sought by employers and graduate schools, such as problem-solving, initiative, effective communication and analyzing information.  Luther believes so strongly in helping our students learn these skills that we will pay work-study students to attend some of the seminars as part of their work-study assignment.  (Work-study students must have a Professional Development Seminar pre-approved by their work-study supervisor.)  Professional seminars are 45 minutes long.

Personal Development Seminars prepare students to live well.  From leveraging one’s strengths to setting up a budget and learning basic car maintenance, we want to ease student’s transition to living on their own.  Personal seminars are approximately one hour in length.

When are the seminars held?

  • Tuesdays during Shadow Block (January Term-April 29, 2014) or
  • Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. (January Term-April 29, 2014) or
