Are you uncertain about your major or what career to pursue? If so, plan to participate in the Shadow Program. This program is a great opportunity for you to explore career fields that interest you. You will meet with and/or shadow professionals who can give you information and advice about a particular occupation.
Who: It’s for all students—first year through seniors.
What: Meet with professionals at their work sites to “get behind the scene” of a career you’ve been thinking about pursuing.
When: The Shadow Program is offered throughout the month of April. It’s very flexible. You can meet with one or more professionals, as long as you and their schedules permit (i.e. 2 hours or 2 days! It’s completely up to you and your shadow site).
Where: All shadow sites will be located in the Decorah area for your convenience.
How: You will be notified of this program in March via an email from the Career Center. You can then stop by the Career Center to sign up for the career field(s) that interest you (i.e. lawyers, health care professions, accountants, engineers, guidance counselors and many more to choose from). See logos of businesses that have offered shadow experiences in the past.
Once you are matched with the professional(s), you can contact them from the information that will be provided to you. You will be responsible for finding a time/date that will work for the both of you to shadow. (Note: Space is limited, so be sure to sign up early.)
Following your participation in the Shadow Program, you will be one step closer to deciding what major or career you may or may not want to pursue!
