'Are You Safe on Social Media?'

Social media has become an important part of today's society, but just how safe is it? Chris Pallaris, a director and principal consultant at i-intelligence will host a workshop on social media security at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 25 in Olin 102 on the Luther College campus. Based in Zurich, Switzerland, i-intelligence works to improve the intelligence, foresight and risk management capabilities of public and private sector organizations around the globe.

Daryl and Audrey Erdman Prizes for Entrepreneurship Awarded

Luther students honored during Entrepreneurial Showcase         DECORAH, Iowa— The 32nd annual Luther College Entrepreneurial Showcase was held Tuesday, April 11, in Luther College's Peace Dining Room. Since the initial program in 1986, the goal of the Entrepreneurial Showcase has been to serve as an annual forum for students, faculty, alumni and friends of Luther who are interested in and support entrepreneurship. During the program, the Daryl and Audrey Erdman Prizes for Entrepreneurship were awarded to Luther sophomores Austin Lewis ($5,000) and Anna Helt ($2,500) and senior Jackson VanKirk ($2,500). Finalists included senior Emily Schroeder, junior Belal Krayem and sophomore Kyle Livingood. The Daryl and Audrey Erdman Prize for Entrepreneurship is endowed by gifts from Daryl A. and Audrey P. Erdman, Luther class of 1961. Through their generosity, the Erdmans provide $10,000 in awards to three student entrepreneurs every year. In order to be selected for an Erdman Prize, the Luther students who create, develop and manage a successful entrepreneurial enterprise during their years at Luther must apply and present their venture to a panel of judges. The Erdman Prize is open to all full-time students from all majors.

Alex Sekora

Luther College junior Sekora interns with Iowa Senate Democrats

Luther College junior Alex Sekora of Denmark, Wisconsin, served as a summer communications intern for the Iowa Senate Democrats in Des Moines. Sekora, son of Jim and Carole Sekora, graduated from Denmark High School in 2015. He plans to graduate from Luther in 2019 with majors in political science and management.

Luther senior El Mitshu selected to research foreign exchange strategy

The foreign exchange market is the largest financial market in the world, transferring billions of dollars' worth of foreign currencies between countries. Hakam Abdul El Mitshu, Luther College senior of Tripoli, Libya, is researching and building opening and closing strategies for foreign exchange traders for his summer research project at the college.

Halina Pyzdrowski

Luther senior Pyzdrowski selected to research flood resilience during summer

Over the course of the last 10 years, Decorah and other communities across northeastern Iowa have experienced multiple floods characterized as 100-year floods. As the effects of climate change intensify, events like these are only expected to increase. Halina Pyzdrowski, Luther College senior of Minnetonka, Minnesota, is researching flood resilience in the Upper Iowa Watershed for her summer research project at the college.

E-Club Entrepreneurial Leadership Prize

Leadership Award 2017

On April 11, 2017, junior Tapiwa Manjengwa  was the recipient of the Entrepreneurship Club Leadership Prize. Established in March 2010, the Leadership Prize is awarded annually to a student that has shown strong leadership skills as member of the E-Club at Luther College. Tapiwa is a double major in Accounting and Management from Zimbabwe.
