The Luther College Entrepreneurial Showcase is an annual event which provides a forum for students, faculty, alumni and friends of Luther who are interested in and support entrepreneurship. The evening starts with a networking session to afford students an opportunity to interact with and received feedback from fellow students, faculty, alumni and local community members. Dinner follows at 6 p.m. in the Peace Dining Room at the Dahl-Centennial Union. At 7 p.m., Luther alumni, Jay Hansen '87, CEO of Avalanche Technology Cooperative and Scott Lien '87, Partner of Innovations Accelerated, will provide the keynote address "Think Different & Think Big — Your innovation could change the world". The student awards follow the speakers. The Daryl and Audrey Erdman Prizes for Entrepreneurship will be awarded. This annual competition recognizes entrepreneurial activities that demonstrate the Luther student's ability to recognize and pursue a business opportunity without regard to required resources and to build "added value" beyond a personal salary. Prize money totaling $10,000 is awarded. This competition is only open to those students who already have an established business. The $1,500 Accenture Scholarship recognizes a Luther student who has demonstrated academic excellence and leadership while majoring in computer science, physics or mathematics. The Luther College Entrepreneurship Club (E-Club) Leadership Prize is awarded to a current E-Club member in recognition of leadership contributions during their time at Luther and particularly the past year. Club members nominate and participate in the selection of the winner along with the E-Club faculty advisor.
