Nancy K. Barry
"Good writers (like good readers) are never created in an intellectual vacuum. 'Collaboration' and 'community' are two words that form the backdrop for any class I teach."
As the current Department Head in English, I take pride in making sure that the department is responsive to student readers and writers, happy to do whatever I can to cultivate our shared of love of poetry, stories and imaginative work. As a writer and scholar, I have found a good home at Luther College for my interests and enthusiasms--for everything from radio essays to more traditional literary scholarship on 20th century American poetry, even working in 2010 on a one-woman play entitled "Lessons from Cancer College.
As a writing teacher, my philosophy is best expressed here.
