Asian Studies

Asia is home to some of the world’s oldest civilizations. Today it is also the world’s demographic center—China,  India, and Indonesia are three of the world’s four largest nations. Studying Asia and gaining experience in the Asian countries are important to develop an appreciation for diversity and produce better knowledge about the global flows of peoples, cultures, technology, and business.

Asian Studies is an interdisciplinary program that introduces students to the history, cultures, and societies of Asia. Currently the program offers a minor of 25 credits, including 6 courses selected from at least two different disciplines. Students will acquire language skills in an Asian language and demonstrate basic knowledge of the Asian countries in multidisciplinary contexts.
