Luther College Moment in History #86

In December 1981 a concert titled Juletide was held for the first time. Organized by Craig Arnold, this was an addition to the traditional performance of Händel’s Messiah, which was touted by Weston Noble as Luther College’s oldest tradition.

Though Arnold left the faculty in 1983, the Juletide concert continued—renamed Christmas at Luther—and eventually replaced the annual Messiah performance, becoming the annual tradition and celebration that it still is today. Craig Arnold returned as director of Nordic Choir, 2005–2010, and was then replaced by the current director, Dr. Allen hightower.
