Participants will have hands on experience with research grade light and electron microscopes to view biological and non-biological specimens.   

Monday
Examination of participant's stratified squamous epithelium cells (scraped with a toothpick from your cheek) and onion epidermal cells using fluorescence and differential interference contrast microscopy at 600 - 1000X magnification.

Tuesday
Examination of artesian paper using scanning laser confocal microscopy producing a three dimensional image.

Wednesday
Examination of hair and other dry biological samples using scanning electron microscopy 50X to 25,000X

Thursday
Examination of cellular organelles using transmission electron microscopy from 100X - 200,000X
Limited enrollment; a four-part course.
