Guest Speaker: Jim Thomsen '86
As president of Thrivent Holdings, Jim Thomsen provides strategic direction and leadership to Thrivent's subsidiaries and affiliates including Thrivent Mutual Funds, Thrivent Federal Credit Union, cuLearn, Thrivent Student Resources, brightpeak financial, Thrivent Independent, Thrivent Trust Company, Ronald Blue Trust, Newman Long Term Care, and the InFaith Community Foundation. These independent entities share Thrivent's mission of helping more Christians be wise with money and live generously. In this role, Thomsen is also responsible for the acquisition and development of ventures to better serve Christian communities.
Thomsen joined the Thrivent team immediately after graduating from Luther College in 1986 and has dedicated his career to supporting the financial health of Thrivent's membership and to the growth of the organization. Prior to his appointment as president of Thrivent Holdings, he served in distribution management positions in Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago, and St. Louis. Thomsen joined Thrivent's senior executive management team in 2001 as the chief distribution officer. He has led Thrivent's Marketing, Products, and Service division and has also served as Thrivent's chief marketing officer.
Thomsen earned his bachelor's degree in management from Luther College in 1986 and is a graduate of Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program. He currently serves on the board of regents for Luther College and on the InFaith Community Foundation Board of Directors.
