Friday, April 12, 2013Speaker: Jim Martin-Schramm, Professor of Religion, Luther College
"Luther's Renewable Energy Projects and Climate Action Goals"
In September 2011 Luther took a historic step toward substantially shaving its carbon footprint by erecting a 1600 kilowatt wind turbine west of campus. In the summer of 2012 Luther began leasing a 280 kilowatt solar photovoltaic array to power Baker Village. Professor Martin-Schramm will talk about how these renewable energy projects and others are related to Luther’s Climate Action Goals, which call for a 50 percent reduction in campus greenhouse gas emissions by 2015, 70 percent by 2020, and net zero emissions by 2030.
The schedule includes a buffet lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Come and go as you need, but don't miss Dr. Martin-Schramm's presentation at noon.
