The afterglow of my birthday festivities has worn off, and the end of the semester is weighing heavier on my psyche. I have an open planner on my desk, filled out much too far in the future for anybody who believes in “living in the present.” I was content after Fall Break to do just that, live in the present, taking the homework, tasks and fun times one day at a time. Now the “It’s my birthday!” excuse does not work anymore, and I must start to pick up long-term projects that may have been neglected.

    This is not to say that my birthday was a bust, quite the contrary. My friends helped me celebrate and it was my best birthday to date. This past weekend I even spent some time in Minneapolis with my roommate and a friend where the 24-hour trip was a blessed mini-vacation.

    Upon my return to Luther, though, I know that it is time to kick it into high gear. I have a looming research paper for Ancient Science that refuses to go away until I do more than pick a topic. I have forms sitting half-completed in my desk drawer for next semester. Documentary filming will be starting any day now for Media and Production. Music History promises a test next week, and Philharmonia’s Fall Concert is in a mere 48 hours. I have been thankful for the time to relax in the last weeks, but now it is time to get down to business.
