So far sophomore year has been smooth sailing, not saying that my classes are easy, just that there have not been any major road bumps so far. I say so far because I am currently experiencing one. The dilemma of 2012… what do I do for J term? Looking through the J term courses offered there was one in particular that really caught my eye, it’s called “Cancer Causes/Treatment,” or something like that. Anyway, when I saw this class I was super excited and I thought I knew what I was going to take, but guess what, it is a 185 course. For all those who aren’t Luther students, which I assume is almost everyone, only freshman can take 185 J term classes, meaning I am out of luck. So it was back to square one for me, I began to look again for classes I was allowed to take as an upperclassman. Right now I am leaning towards taking an African History course. My big dilemma now is that I want to take an awesome class for J term, a class I won’t be able to take at any other time here. I am not saying that African History will not be a fun class; I am just saying when else will I be able to take a creative writing class with a well-known author, or a Scandinavian hand carving class with a world famous artist? But also, when will I have the best opportunity to take a history course, a subject I am not too fond of. Thankfully, this is one of the biggest problems in my life right now, so I cannot really complain. Although it is a little frustrating not knowing what to take, but I am not too worried because I will choose at some point and I really doubt I will be able to make a wrong decision.
