Christmas at Luther

This year, the theme for Christmas at Luther ([email protected]) was “The Tree of Life My Soul Hath Seen.” There was a replica of a tree built to hang behind the choirs on stage. Attached to the ceiling were some branches of leaves. The stage looked so beautiful! I enjoyed how well the set design matched with the theme. Every time I would perform on the main stage, I couldn’t help but sneak a glance at the tree and the many branches and smile in amazement.

Performing is great and all, but I also love being able to hear the other choirs sing. I always enjoy hearing the solo pieces of the other choirs. Everyone sounded so developed and prepared. I especially love seeing the directors conduct their choirs. They are filled with excitement and pride as they direct. It makes me happy to see their hard work pay off. Seeing your director engaged in their conducting inspires many to be engaged as well.

My absolute favorite thing about [email protected] is the candlelight song. Cathedral was lucky enough to have our director conduct this year’s candlelight piece. The beauty of the piece didn’t hit me until I heard it with the orchestra and all of the other choirs. I was immediately struck with a wave of emotions. The warmth of the candle I was holding was NOTHING compared to the warmth I felt in my heart! As I gazed across the many choir singing, I felt honored for getting the opportunity to participate in something so marvelous. I can’t wait for next year!
