Skills classes at Luther: Pilates

As part of an education at Luther all students are required to take Fitness and Wellness and a skills course. I fulfilled the requirement for Fitness and Wellness as a first year student. Now as a senior in my last semester at Luther I am finally taking my skills course. I planned it this way for a reason.

I always knew that I wanted to take one of the awesome skills classes like yoga or Pilates that have a tendency to fill up right away. I knew that I would have to wait until I had a lot more credits in order to get in to one of these classes, so I saved it for senior year. I can now say after a week of Pilates that this was a smart idea.

I am taking it as a seven weeks course for my last seven weeks ever at Luther College. It’s an 8 a.m. class, which at first I thought was a bad idea, but I was wrong. It’s a struggle climbing out of bed and walking all the way from college apartments to the Regents Center for an 8 a.m. class, but it is so nice once I’m actually there. Pilates at 8 a.m. is very relaxing as well as a good workout. By the time class is over I feel stretched, exercised and ready for the rest of the day. It’s a great feeling to have at 9 in the morning!

Choosing to take Pilates my senior year was one of the best decisions that I’ve made. Not only is it a great class, but it will be a great stress reduction technique as graduation gets closer and closer. Skills classes at Luther are so much fun. I’m so glad that I’m finally taking one.
