Time to quit

Time to quit

February 5, 2013

As a student at Luther I like to be involved in various activities and organizations on campus but sometimes it becomes too much. Last semester I think I was involved in a little too much. After looking back upon the past few months I took the advice a peer gave me last year, “you have to learn to quit something.” When I was given this advice last year it was from a peer of mine who was talking about quitting a sport so he could spend more time on doing “irresponsible activities,” which initially turned me off to the advice. But after comparing my situation to his, I realized that the advice is applicable in certain situations. So I quit my activity. Long story short, it is ok to quit things in college. As someone was has always been busy it is hard to think that quitting is an ok thing to do. But after looking at my priorities there is none larger than school and when you feel that other things are getting in the way of that then some reevaluation needs to take place. As hard as it may have been to come to terms with my decision, I know it was a good one.
