Greetings from my desk! I won't lie and say that I've missed it. ;)
I've been back at Luther for almost a week now. After a Christmas break that seemed to fly by, it's amazing to me that I've only been at Luther for six days! Only having one class to worry about leaves a lot of free time, and consequently makes the days feel much longer.
For interim, all freshmen are required to stay on campus and take a "185" course. These courses are seminars, meaning they focus on discussion-based learning and giving presentations. However, the classes are in every department on campus.
I am taking a Communications class that focuses on Supportive Communication, and we meet for two hours a day, five times a week. While I typically spend 3-4 hours on homework a night, that's only around 5 hours spent on schoolwork for the entire day (during "regular school" I spend that much time in class alone). This has left me with a lot of time to exercise, be with friends, and simply to relax a little bit more. It's nice to wake up in the morning and have an hour to watch TV or read (for fun!) before I have to go to class.
While I enjoy having extra free time on campus, I can't help but feel a little bit envious of my friends who are at home for another week or two before they go back to school. At the same time, I know I wouldn't be doing anything different at home, and it's nice to be back with my friends at school.
I hope you all had a great Christmas and are getting back into the swing of things as this new year begins!
