January Internship at HAWC

It’s official. I’ve set up an internship for this J-term! After sending my resume and cover letters to multiple places, dealing with phone calls and emails, and interviewing, I’ve now been accepted for an interning position at HAWC: Partnerships for Children here in Decorah! It feels so good to see that all of my work paid off. I found one in the nick of time!

I’m really excited to be able to do something different this January. This semester has been very stressful and I’ve put in so much hard work, so I’m a little bit relieved that I will have over a month off from classes. I’m also getting the chance to get real work experience, which is very exciting! I know that January is going to be incredible! I’m so ready for this new adventure! It’ll be my first chance at getting my feet wet in the real world, before I have to enter it for real this May. The people seem really nice too, so I’m sure that I’ll learn so much from them this January.

Internships are also exciting because you can get credit for them as well. Last Tuesday, after receiving my acceptance for my internship I went in and met with one of my psychology professors. We went over some of the details regarding what I’ll be expected to do for him during January in order to have it count as a class. I’m seriously excited! Like he said, it’s a chance to literally design my own course! I get to pick my goals and how I will fulfill them. I can throw testing to the side, and write papers about my interesting experiences and things that I learn for a month! It’s going to be great! I’m so excited to get all of this started! It’s going to be so much fun!

Well, I’m off to go study for finals. I’ll have four final exams this next week, so I have  A LOT of prep to do beforehand. Good luck to everyone else in their final projects for the year! :)

Cheers ladies and gents :)
