Luther has prepared us for the challenges to come

The second to last semester of my undergraduate career is quickly coming to a close. It’s almost Thanksgiving and after Thanksgiving there are only two full weeks of classes before finals week. Its just crazy how fast time flies. This past week I applied for my LAST SEMESTER of classes at Luther College. It’s bittersweet. I’m feeling over-stressed and ready for a new adventure, but I also know that I’m going to miss Luther. It’s been a great three and a half years as a Luther student. I’m excited and ready to start my last semester here, but I don’t know if I’ll be as excited to leave after finals this spring. It just seems like it went too fast. This past weekend I had the opportunity to meet with one of my best friends here at Luther. We haven’t seen each other lately, because we are both busy. (She’s also doing her student teaching, which makes it even harder since she’s never on campus.) We had a great time sitting and reminiscing, but it was very bittersweet. We became close freshman year and have been very close ever since. Together we’ve experienced all the ups and downs of being students at Luther College. It’s so strange to look back on freshman year, because it really feels like FOREVER ago. Everything was so new and unfamiliar then, and now those same things have transformed into well-paved streets that we have encountered too many times to count. It’s so strange how much you can change in just four years of college. On discussing these changes, our main discovery that we made was that we love how we’ve changed. Our changes here at Luther have been for the better. We’ve grown in our dedication to our studies, relationships and work. We’re better people after everything that we’ve been through. Our time at Luther has prepared us for the next step and we’re now ready to go off in to the real world in a way we were nowhere close to our freshman year. It’s bittersweet as we take our next steps forward, but it’s exciting too. Luther has prepared us for the challenges we’re sure to face. We’ve had a well-rounded education and many interpersonal experiences that will serve us well as we continue on our road to living successful, happy lives. And it helps to know that we’re not alone in this. We’re all taking the big leap this spring. We’ll have each other to call for support during those difficult times. The relationships we’ve built here are only going to strengthen us in the long run. Cheers ladies and gents :)
