A month down in D.C! Where has the time gone?

Hey All! Wow what an extremely busy week it has been. On top of work, classes, field trips and sight seeing I don’t know how to manage my time very well. These past couple of weeks have flown by and I don’t know where all the time has gone. I can’t believe I have been out here for a month. It seems like it has been much longer. Let me fill you in on my life out here. Work is going great. I am enjoying C-SPAN a lot. The documentary competition is almost coming to a close and we plan on choosing a winner soon! I am pretty excited to see who ends up winning (there is a lot of competition). As far as other things involving work, I have decided that I want to try and stay out here this summer. Thus, I have to start looking for summer internships (let the fun begin) I think I am going to try working on the Hill with a congressperson or maybe I will find something else. I know I have mentioned that part of the LCWS program involved field trips every Wednesday, but this week I got extra lucky. 5 students from the LCWS program (myself included) got an opportunity to go to the White House to see President Obama leave on Marine 1. This was an AWESOME experience to say the least. I would have never thought that I would be that close to the White House in my entire life. We got to see the outside of the West Wing, and walk right along side the White House…in addition to seeing President Obama. It was an awesome experience and I will never forget it. Classes are going well minus the papers that I have to write every week. It is a big adjustment going to work all day then night class, but I am enjoying the classes. I feel like I am learning a lot about our government and how it works. It is kind of interesting to discuss what is going on in our government and know it is all happening in the city that I live in. Today is Presidents Day, which means no work for me! I am spending my day catching up on emails, blogging, running, grocery shopping, and cleaning. So much for a relaxing day, right? I can’t complain though. The weather is really nice and there are 60’s in the forecast for the week! Hope all is well for everyone. Take care, Mario
