October 29, 2010

This week is exciting for so many reasons! My birthday was yesterday, and the first of my birthday presents arrived Monday, and the thrill of getting mail never ceases to amaze me. The highlights were a Big Bang Theory t-shirt (a TV show I follow, one of the nerdier ones), a new winter hat and gloves, slew of candy, cookies and Pumpkin Whoopie Pies (sounds weird, but they taste AMAZING!) and even a whole cake! My desk is covered in equal amounts of candy, cards and books, it’s craziness! Birthdays in college are definitely different from ones at home, but not bad by any means! It’s not as family-oriented obviously, so only a simple phone call to my parents was on the agenda. My birthday included many more surprises than usual, like waking up to balloons and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups taped to my wall next to my white board with a “Happy Birthday” message (thank you, roomies). Apparently you receive 20% off at the bookstore on your birthday which is really handy, and it’s never difficult to convince college kids to help you eat birthday cake! To top it all off, it was a rather easy homework load this week, which is the best present in itself! It’s weird that having “only two tests to prepare for” is an easy work load in college, but there it is. I’m looking forward to this weekend because of the Relient K concert, the Brandt Hall Murder Mystery Party, and of course, Halloween! Until next week, where I will report on all the crazy happenings of this weekend, happy Halloween everybody!
