Summer and Reflection

Hey All! The school year is over, and I am leaving campus on Wednesday. I can’t even begin to describe how I am feeling. It’s sort of a happy, excited, anxious feeling but also a sad one too because…even though it’s only the summer that I will be gone, I am going to miss my “home” and the family that I have created with so many awesome people this year. It’s crazy to think that spending as little as 9 months at a place can quickly become your home versus the 18 years I spent at my actual home. This year I have had the opportunity to try many new things such as, taking interesting classes, meeting amazing professors, pulling all-nighters, walking to Wal-mart, spending a night laying on the soccer field looking at the stars, watching storms approach the valley while sitting on the bleachers, going on numerous road trips, spending at least one night in each freshman dorm, studied in each academic building, woke up at 5 AM for custodial work, worked in the Caf, canoed the Upper Iowa River (more like walked it because the water level was so low), ate at Mabe’s and T-Bocks, had a peanut butter burger from T-bocks, attended a choir/band concert, saw Sean Kingston and Ingrid Michaelson perform, attended numerous Norse sports, going mud-sliding, frolfing, and much more. I have met a lot of cool people this year, and I am glad that I have formed the relationships that I have. These people are my family now, and I can count on them for anything. People say that you meet some of your best friends while at college, and trust me it is true. It would be pretty hard to imagine my life without my friends here. I look forward to the next 3 years at Luther and can’t wait to be reunited with my home and friends in August. They say that college is the best four years of your life, and after this year, these next three have a lot to live up to. I hope everyone is enjoying these last few weeks of school before summer. I know it’s hard for everyone, seniors especially, to sit inside but it’s almost the summer! This will be my last post for the year, and I thank all of you that have followed/read my blogs this year. I hope they helped and I hope that they were not too boring for you all to read. As for me, it’s back to the books because I have 4 finals to take. Peace, Mario
