Outcomes--Class of 2008

The statistics below show that Luther does a great job of preparing students for life after graduation--whether they've landed a job that relates to their career choice, are attending graduate school, or have secured a volunteer service opportunity.

Employment

  • 66% of the Class of 2008 entered the workforce
  • Of those employed, 85% indicated that their current position was related to their career goals
  • From a geographic location perspective, 42% accepted positions in Minnesota, 28% in Iowa, 8% in Wisconsin, 4% in Illinois, and 18% in one of 27 other states and 12 countries
  • Top employers for the Class of 2008 (including the number of students they hired): Hormel Foods (7), Target Stores & Corporate (7), Accenture (6), Epic Systems (6), Mayo Clinic (5), and Wells Fargo (4)

Graduate School

  • 19% of Class of 2008 enrolled in graduate school
  • Of those in graduate/professional school, 56% are pursuing master's degrees, 15% are in medical school, 14% are working toward their doctorates, 12% are in law school, and 4% are in other types of graduate programs
  • 71% received some form of non-repayable financial assistance such as scholarships, fellowships, and graduate assistantships
  • From a geographic location perspective, 24% enrolled at institutions in Iowa, 20% in Minnesota, 9% in Wisconsin, 8% in Illinois, and 39% in one of 24 other states

Volunteer Service

  • 7% of the Class of 2008 accepted volunteer assignments that required at least a 10-month commitment
  • Top service organizations include AmeriCorps (10), Lutheran Volunteer Corps (5), Peace Corps (3), and Lutheran World Relief (2)
  • 16% of these students are volunteering in five different countries
  • 84% of these students are volunteering in 12 states domestically
  • 100% of these students are receiving some form of health insurance as well as an education award or stipend at the conclusion of their service commitment
