Scholarships and Awards

Luther believes that the gifts and talents each student brings to our campus are what makes this such a special college.

Because we place such a high value on what our students contribute to the campus community, we offer a wide variety of scholarships and awards based on demonstrated academic excellence, musical talent, and other criteria.

Scholarships from Outside Sources

EmergencyLights.net Scholarship

The EmergencyLights.net Scholarship contest will award one $1,000 scholarship to any incoming/current student.  Applicants must create a video addressing the topic - How Would You Solve the U.S. Skilled Labor Crisis? – and write a 500 word essay explaining your arguments.  Interested students should visit http://www.emergencylights.net/emergencylights-net-scholarship/.  The submission deadline is December 15, 2014. 

ProjectManager.com Scholarship

The ProjectManager.com Scholarship contest will award one $1,000 scholarship to any incoming/current student.  Applicants must create an Instagram video response to the prompt:  “A great Project Manager is someone who…”  Use the #pmscholarship hashtag in the caption.  Interested students should visit http://www.projectmanager.com/scholarship.php.  Entrants must submit their application and an official transcript before December 15, 2014.

The Securing Your Future Scholarship

Sentry Security will award one $500 scholarship to any incoming/current student.  Applicants must submit a 2-5 minute video or a 500-1,000 word essay addressing one of the two prompts provided here: http://www.sentrysecurity.com/scholarship-program.php.  Entrants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, be a Chicagoland resident, and a full-time student.  For more information follow the link above.  The submission deadline is December 15, 2014.

Digicert Internet Security Scholarship

Digicert will award one $1,000 scholarship to any incoming/current student.  Applicants must write a 400-600 word essay about where you see Internet security in the next five years.  Entrants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4-point scale.  Interested students should visit https://www.digicert.com/internet-security-scholarship.htm.  The submission deadline is November 1, 2014. 

Digicert Internet of Things Scholarship

Digicert will award one $1,000 scholarship to any incoming/current student.  Applicants must write a 400-600 word essay about how the Internet of Things will affect your future.  Entrants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4-point scale.  Interested students should visit https://www.digicert.com/internet-of-things-scholarship.htm.  The submission deadline is November 1, 2014. 

Military College Scholarship

LowVARates will award one $1,250 scholarship to any military student.  Furthermore, children with a mother or father serving in the U.S. Armed Forces are eligible to apply.  Interested student should visit http://www.lowvarates.com/military-college-scholarship and fill out the online application.  The submission deadline is December 31, 2014. 

FrontierBundles.com Cyberbullying Awareness Scholarship

The FrontierBundles.com Cyberbullying Awareness Scholarship Contest is offering students the chance to win $1,000 towards Spring Semester 2015.  Entrants must create a poster that raises awareness of student cyber bulling.  Acceptable posters can be created in any medium from photography to hand drawn art.  More information can be found at http://frontierbundles.com/scholarship.  Submission deadline is December 15, 2014. 

Mhelpdesk Scholarship

Mhelpdesk is offering students the chance to win $1,500 towards their Spring 2015 Semester.  Entrants must create a 60-second video commercial directed towards potential Mhelpdesk customers.  Interested students should visit http://mhelpdesk.com/scholarship/.  Submission deadline is December 15, 2014. 

Look Twice, Save A Life Scholarship

InsuranceProviders.com will award one $1,000 scholarship to any incoming/current student.  Entrants must create a form of social awareness (i.e. video, artwork, essay, etc.) that would encourage safe driving.  Interested students should visit http://www.insuranceproviders.com/look-twice-save-a-life-scholarship.  Application deadline is December 1, 2014.

AT&T Internet and Education Scholarship

The AT&T Internet and Education Scholarship contest will award one $1,000 scholarship to any incoming/current student with a cumulative high school or college grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4-point scale.  Entrants must create an infographic displaying how students utilize social media in and out of the classroom.  Interested students should visit http://www.attsavings.com/scholarship.  Submission deadline is December 15, 2014.

Business Community Impact Scholarship

PayrollCompanies.us will award one $1,000 scholarship to any incoming/current full-time Luther student in good academic standing.  Entrants must submit a 1,000-1,500 word essay explaining how a small business in their community has impacted their life.  Interested students should visit http://payrollcompanies.us/scholarship/.  Application deadline is September 30, 2014.

In-Home Care Innovation Scholarship

The SeniorAdvisor.com In-Home Care Innovation Scholarship essay contest will award three $1,500 scholarships to students seeking an associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree or graduate level program. Applicants must submit a 500-750 word essay on one of our three essay topics. Google Fiber Scholarship

The CenturyLinkquote.com Google Fiber Scholarship essay contest will award one $1,000 scholarship to any incoming/current student with a cumulative high school or college grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4-point scale. The Future of Google Scholarship

The USBundles.com The Future of Google Scholarship essay contest will award one $1,000 scholarship to any incoming/current student with a cumulative high school or college grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4-point scale. Artistic Excellence in Printing Design & Marketing Scholarship

The Printaholic.com Artistic Excellence in Printing Design & Marketing Scholarship will award one $1,000 scholarship to any student majoring in Graphic Arts & Design or a related field with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater. SoftwareProviders.com Scholarship

The SoftwareProviders.com Scholarship essay contest will award one $1,000 scholarship to any incoming/current full-time student in good academic standing. We’ll also publish a few of the top selections on our blog. Applicants must submit a 600-800 word essay on one of our two essay topics. Essay topics and scholarship details can be found at http://softwareproviders.com/scholarship and must be submitted by 5 p.m. EST September 30, 2014. Scholarship award recipients will be announced on or about October 31, 2014.

Create A Greeting Card Scholarship Contest

The Gallery Collection's 8th Annual Create-A-Greeting-Card $10,000 Scholarship Contest is offering students a chance to win $10,000 towards their education plus a $1,000 award for their school! Entrants must submit a unique photo, piece of artwork, or computer graphic for the front of a greeting card. The entrant with the best design will win a $10,000 scholarship and have his/her design made into an actual card. Contest submissions accepted from April 14, 2014 - February 18, 2015. AES Scholarship

AES Engineers is again offering a $500 scholarship on the basis of student character as determined from an essay question. More information can be found at http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm. Application deadline is October 6, 2014.

Clark Scholarship

The International Gem Society is officially accepting applications for its 2014 Clark Scholarship. Students with an interest in geology, gems, lapidary arts or gemology are encouraged to submit an application for this $750 scholarship. Interested students should visit http://www.gemsociety.org/scholarships/ and fill out an application along with a 1,000 word essay. Application deadline is December 15, 2014.
