The comprehensive fee for all students for the 2014-15 academic year is $45,925. This comprehensive fee includes:
The college estimates that an additional $3,015 should be adequate for books, health insurance, clothing, entertainment, and expenses. Travel costs are not included in this figure.
It is likely that the comprehensive fee for future years will increase at a rate nearly equal to the pace of U.S. inflation, averaging 4 to 6 percent per year.
Luther College has only limited financial aid funds available for international students. We are sometimes able to fund up to between one third and one half of the total cost of attending Luther, but we do not offer full scholarships for international students. Funds are awarded for full-time study during the nine-month academic year on the basis of academic performance and/or family financial need, and the aid package usually combines scholarship or grant money (which does not need to be repaid) with on-campus work.
International students are eligible for all of our academic scholarships (see the Luther Scholarships and Awards web page for award amounts and selection criteria). In addition, Luther offers a $3,000 ($12,000 over four years) scholarship to one selected international student pursuing study in math. Contact the International Admissions Office at (563) 387-1062 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Most international students find working on campus to be an important way to finance part of their education. Work-study is awarded to international students with an earning potential of $3,000 a year. International students may work only on campus.
Applicants who need assistance to finance their studies at Luther are strongly encouraged to explore aid programs offered through local or national churches, government agencies, and cultural organizations.
