Costs
In addition to the costs estimated for Luther programs and Luther-approved programs, students should budget for:
- passport photos;
- passport and visa;
- immunizations recommended by the college and the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta;
- physical examination;
- International Student Identity Card;
- insurance (health, life, theft);
- room deposit (refundable);
- textbooks;
- other university fees;
- personal spending money;
- transportation to and from home to the domestic airport;
- all costs associated with independent travel (transportation, lodging, food) before, during, and after the program and during scheduled program breaks;
- gifts for host families;
- and guidebooks.
A cost sheet and estimated budget for each program is available at the Study Abroad Resource Center or from the program provider. Study abroad personnel—many of whom have spent considerable time overseas—can also field questions about the real-time costs of study and travel.
