Eligibility: Second-semester sophomores, juniors, seniors; minimum 2.5 GPA; no previous study of Chinese language required
Program fee: Luther comprehensive fee plus airfare (fee covers tuition, fees, room, and food stipend sufficient for most food costs)

Students should refer to the Financial Aid Office for information on financial aid eligibility. Gilman, NSEP, and Freeman Scholarships may be available for this program. Please refer to the Institute for International Education for information on these scholarships.

Students on the Hangzhou Program reside at the Yuquan campus of Zhejiang University and typically take their meals at the university dining room or nearby restaurants.. Students are required to study Chinese language, culture and civilization from Zhejiang University professors; additional courses are offered by the resident director of the program.
Japan—Japan Studies in Nagasaki Exchange Program (JASIN)
(based at Nagasaki College of Foregian Languages)

Eligibility: Second-semester sophomores, juniors, seniors; 2.5 minimum GPA; no previous Japanese language study required
Program fee: Luther comprehensive fee plus airfare (fee includes tuition, room, board, (14 meals per week), field trips)

Students should refer to the Financial Aid Office for information on financial aid eligibility. Students should also check on outside scholarships. Bridging, Gilman, NSEP, and Freeman Scholarships may be available for this program.
Application deadline: March 1
Students studying on the JASIN program study Japanese language and Japan studies, taught in English, in business, economics, society, history, culture, and literature, as well as in seminars in traditional Japanese arts. In addition, students may take three credits of independent study with the Japan studies classes and seminars.
