Sheila Radford-Hill, September 22 through October 20, 2002
Educator, community activist and author Sheila Radford-Hill will be on
the Luther College campus from Sept. 22 through Oct. 20, 2002 as the first
month-long participant in Luthers vocational residency program.

During her time here, Radford-Hill will meet with students, classes and
campus groups, and lead discussions on how individuals can best reach
their full potential.
This is an excellent opportunity to share with young people what
it takes to understand Gods plan for their life and to be patient
with the unfolding of how God is working in their life, said Radford-Hill.
I will also share research in community development, education and
critical race theory in an effort to deepen students understanding
of the key challenges in public policy and in neighborhood development.
Radford-Hill brings to Luther a rich and varied career experience centered
on education, nonprofit management, community development and gender issues.
She has been a division administrator in the Illinois State Board of Education,
a senior economic planner in the University of Illinois Chicago College
of Urban Planning and Public Policy, director of the Chicago Area Project,
a nationally recognized delinquency prevention network, and author of
Further to Fly: Black Women and the Politics of Empowerment.
I look forward to sharing my experiences with the Luther community
and to helping its students prepare for future challenges and opportunities,
said Radford-Hill.
Radford-Hill received her bachelors degree from DePaul University,
her masters degree from the University of Pennsylvania and is currently
a doctoral candidate from Columbia Commonwealth University School of Arts
and Sciences.
