the Independence Foundation and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and has been in residence at Yaddo where she was awarded the Aaron Copland Residency for an American Composer, the MacDowell Colony, the Ucross Foundation, Blue Mountain Center, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Ragdale, Millay Colony and the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Ireland. Her works are published by Oxford University Press, International Opus, Jomar Press and Angelfire Press. A strong believer in creating community through music, Dr. Clearfield is also the host and founder of the Philadelphia SALON Concert Series featuring contemporary, classical, jazz, electronic and world music since 1986. Ms. Clearfield will present an introduction to her 2000 oratorio, Women of Valor, followed by a concert of music by American women composers, presented by pianist Jessica Paul and collaborating artists.
