Nis and carolyn Kildegaard, february 20-march 6, 2005

 

Nis and Carolyn Kildegaard will be in residence for two weeks beginning February 20, 2005. Nis will be working with students in the Communication and English departments and Carolyn with the Theater/Dance, Music, Social Work and Psychology departments. Nis and Carolyn have taken rich and rewarding journeys on the path to vocation. Each of them has long and deep experience with the questions about vocation students wrestle with every day: What makes my work meaningful? How can what I love become what I do? How can my work help me pursue life-long learning? What are the theological and spiritual dimensions of my vocation?

then eventually editor of the New Harmony Times in New Harmony, Indiana. After more than a year at the Washington bureau of The New York Times he began his 23 years career at the Vineyard Gazette.

 

Nis Kildegaard, free lance writer, has 30 years experience in the field of journalism. Most recently he was the news editor of the Vineyard Gazette, a weekly newspaper out of Martha's Vineyard. In 2001, Mr. Kildegaard was named the Best Editorial Writer of 2001 by the New England Press Association. A graduate of Yale University, he worked briefly at a consumer magazine in Chicago,

 

Carolyn Kildegaard, a certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist, where she on faculty teaching a variety of classes. She is the Treatment Manager at the Dukes County Correctional Facility in Martha's Vineyard. She teaches life skills, stress management and yoga to the inmates, working with them to develop their skills and talents. Carolyn has been a yoga teacher for many years working with students in schools, nursing homes, fitness and wellness centers.

Carolyn has a B.A. from Lesley University in Boston, MA and an MA in East/West Psychology at Norwich University in Montpelier, VT.

Nis will be visiting English, education and music classes, working with journalism and writing students as well as speaking in Daily Chapel on Tuesday, March 1

Carolyn is scheduled to meet with students in the Dance, Music, Physical Education and Psychology departments. She will be speak in Daily Chapel on Monday, February 21.
