Joseph Ellul O.P., february 27-march 7, 2005

 

 

Dr. Joseph Ellul of Malta is familiar to Luther students studying in Malta where he teaches the section on Islam in the "Religions of the Mediterranean" course. In addition to his teaching responsibilities he serves as priest to one of Malta's poorest parishes. A student of Islam, Dr. Ellul received degrees in Philosophy and Theology from St. Thomas Aquinas Philosophical-Theological College in Malta followed by studies in Arabic and Islamic from the Pontifcal Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies in Rome. He received his Docorate in Theology, specializing in Ecumenical Studies, from the Pontifical Universtiy of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome.

Joseph Ellul O.P.

Dr. Ellul will be the guest lecturer at the 2005 Annual Ecumenical Lecture on Sunday, March 6, 2005, 7:00 p.m. in the Center for Faith and Life Recital Hall. Tentative plans include speaking in Daily Chapel, visiting with students in the religion department, Islamic studies, and those students interested in the Malta program.

Sunday, March 6, 2005, 7:00 p.m. Annual Ecumenical Lecture, "Human Identity and Purpose According to the Qur'an", CFL with reception following in Main Lobby of CFL.
