carol hinds, Ph.D. May 25-27, 2005

 

Dr. Carol Hinds, former Vice-President and Provost of Mount St. Mary's University, Emmitsburg, MD will be on campus to work with Luther College department heads and junior faculty who see themselves assuming such leadership. Dr. Hinds serves on the National Network Board of Lilly Fellows Program with Vocation Program Director, Ruth Kath. A faculty workshop "The Vocation of College Leadership" will be facilitated by Dr. Hinds

Dr. Carol Hinds

Dr. Hinds is a guest at two faculty workshops on campus May 25-27 and May 31-June 2. Both workshops are located in Baker Commons. "Call to Lead", May 25-27, is a workshop for current and newly appointed department heads, heads of programs, and chairs of committees and other Luther faculty considering this kind of leadership. Goals of the workshop are:

  • To understand the particular demands of leading an academic department or program
  • To renew commitment to this kind of leadership
  • To understand one's personal leadership style
  • To develop strategies that promote the missions of the department and the college
  • To develop strategies for mentoring new faculty members

"Advising and Vocation at Luther College" begins Tuesday, May 31 at 9:00 a.m. The workshop is facilitated by Liang Chee Wee, Paul Gardner and Ruth Kath. Dr. Hinds will speak on Wednesday, June 1 about advising case studies and advising philosophy and assessment.
