sources of social justice-part 1 on christianity and buddhism, october 20, 2005
An opportunity for pastors, church members interested in social concerns Location: Baker Village Commons, Luther College Campus Facilitated by Luther Religion professors Gereon Kopf and Wanda Deifelt What drives people of faith to work to better the lives of others? How does faith relate to ethics and the way people perceive their role in society? This workshop is an opportunity to examine together the basis for social justice as presented from Christian and Buddhist perspectives (fall session) and the Jewish and Islamic perspectives (spring session) Together we will explore ways to foster the ethics of care that are based on a Christian perspective in dialogue with other religions. We will share ways to both strengthen our own religious convictions about social justice and allow us to network with others, out of shared concern for human dignity and the common well-being of others. Workshop Schedule 9:00-9:30am. Registration and welcome Books Provided
