sources of social justice-part 2 on judaism and islam, april 27, 2006
An opportunity for pastors, church members interested in social concerns Location: Baker Village Commons, Luther College Campus, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Facilitated by Luther Religion professors Karla Suomala and Robert Shedinger What drives people of faith to work to better the lives of others? How does faith relate to ethics and the way people perceive their role in society? This workshop is an opportunity to examine together the basis for social justice as presented from and the Jewish and Islamic perspectives. Attendance at the Fall 2005 workshop is not a prerequisite for participation in this session. Together we will explore ways to foster the ethics of care that are based on a Christian perspective in dialogue with other religions. We will share ways to both strengthen our own religious convictions about social justice and allow us to network with others, out of shared concern for human dignity and the common well-being of others. Workshop Schedule 9:00-9:30am. Registration and welcome All materials and meals will be provided.
