Computing Grade Point Average
- List course, hours of credits, grade, and grade point value for each course you wish to include in the G.P.A. (grade point average). A chart to help you determine the grade point value for each grade is listed below:
- Total the hours of credit column and the grade point value column.
Do not add in the courses with CR grades, as they have no grade point
value.
- Divide the hours of credit column total into the grade point value column total to obtain the G.P.A. of the courses you listed.
A 4.0 grade points C 2.0 grade points A- 3.7 grade points C- 1.7 grade points B+ 3.3 grade points D+ 1.3 grade points B 3.0 grade points D 1.0 grade points B- 2.7 grade points D- 0.7 grade points C+ 2.3 grade points F 0.0 grade points
Example:
Hours of Credits Grade Grade Point ValueCourse 1 2 CR 0.0Course 2 3 B+ 9.9Course 3 2 A- 7.4Course 4 3 C 6.0Course 5 2 F 0.0Course 6 3 B- 8.1 Totals 13 -- 31.4
31.4 grade points / 13 credits = 2.415 Grade Point Average
In this example, the 2 hours of F grade are included in the total hours because F grades/hours are computed in the G.P.A.
The following table give grade points for each grade based on the number of credits.
