Luther sophomore Ces interns with Tabaco City Health Unit in the Philippines

 Following the footsteps of a public health nurse, Luther sophomore Charles Ian Ces of Tabaco City, Philippines, spent four weeks of his summer as an intern at the Tabaco City Health Unit. Ces, son of Ana and Jimuel Ces, is a 2014 graduate of the Engineering Science Education Program at Tabaco National High School and also received International Baccalaureate Program Bilingual Diploma from United World College of the Atlantic in Wales, United Kingdom in 2016.

Matthew Clark

Luther junior Clark worked in Stillwater's prison through summer internship

One might think that not many people would want to spend part of their summer vacation in prison, but that's exactly what Luther College junior Matthew Clark did. Clark spent his summer internship in construction work which took him inside Minnesota’s largest close-security prison for male felons for a short time. This certainly reinforced Clark’s belief in the importance of ethics and doing the right thing.

Luther senior Manjengwa completes auditing internship with Ernst and Young

Tapiwa Manjengwa's summer internship with Ernst and Young was a dream come true. Manjengwa came to Luther College to study accounting, and as one of the "Big Four" accounting firms, EY gave him the perfect place to start making those dreams a reality. "This opportunity gave me a platform to explore public accounting and get a glimpse of how the accounting profession operates, particularly the assurance service line," Manjengwa, a Luther senior, said.

Opportunity Saint Paul is an Interfaith program in the greater St. Paul, Minnesota, area that connects people with education-focused volunteering. Rebecka Green, a Luther College junior, spent her summer working as a program support and communications intern for the start-up program, which launched Aug. 17.

Luther senior Thacker selected to research bumblebee resource usage

The bee population has slowly been declining across the globe, causing scholars to panic about the lasting impact the decline will have on native plant communities. Nikhil Thacker, Luther College senior of Iowa City, Iowa, researched and observed bumble bees, known scientifically as Bombus, and how to preserve the areas the bees rely on for their survival.
