Killing King’s Dream: Law Professor Angela Onwuachi-Willig to give 2016 Martin Luther King Jr. Endowed Lecture

Angela Onwuachi-Willig, Charles M. and Marion J. Kierscht Professor of Law at the University of Iowa, will be visiting Luther College on January 18, 2016 as our Williams Endowed Martin Luther King Jr. Speaker. She will be delivering a lecture entitled, "Killing King’s Dream: Examining the Ties Between Till and Trayvon." Dr. Onwuachi-Willig will be visiting two classes before her evening lecture.

History Alumni Event November 2015 "fantastic" according to attendees

On November 5, Jodi Evans (’84), Chris Johnson (’87) and Matthew Cox (’08) spoke to an audience of history and museum studies students and faculty about their lives since Luther. The event was co-sponsored by the History department, Phi Alpha Theta, Museum Studies program, and the Luther College Career Center.

David Hodge and Hi-Jin Kang Hodge to present lecture Oct. 20

Filmmakers and visual artists, David and Hi-Jin Kang Hodge will give the 2015 Oen Fellows lecture at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, in the Recital Hall of the Center for Faith and Life on the Luther campus. The lecture, titled "Impermanence: The Time of Man," is also part of the 2015-16 Religion Forum series and the Paideia Text and Issues Lecture series.

Beth Lynch and Mary Lewis will receive the 2015 Lawrence and Eula Hagie Heritage Award given by the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation Nov. 13.

Lynch, Lewis win statewide conservation award

Beth Lynch, Luther associate professor of biology, and Mary Lewis, Luther professor of biology-emerita, were named winners of the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation's 2015 Lawrence and Eula Hagie Heritage Award. The duo will receive their awards at a ceremony in Decorah on Friday, Nov. 13.
