Facilities

Based in Koren Building and conjoined with the departments of anthropology and social work, Luther's sociology department uses the resources of Preus Library for research, along with Luther's extensive anthropological and archaeological collections.

Sociology faculty and students are also frequent presenters at meetings of the Midwest Sociological Society and the Iowa Sociological Association. Faculty have also recently presented work nationally and internationally, including conferences in Edinburgh, Scotland, and Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Faculty also incorporate local real-world sociological challenges. In 2006, a group of sociology students studied the local community's perception of energy issues and toured a wind turbine farm west of Decorah.
