Careers
A major in political science does not limit students to a specific career. Courses are designed to give majors a broad knowledge of the workings of government, an acquaintance with the structures and dynamics of social organization, and the ability to think critically about human problems and situations.
In recent years many of Luther's political science majors have elected to go to law school. Others attend graduate school, often to earn a master's degree in public policy or public administration, which provides a solid base for service in local, state, and federal government. Several of our graduates have served in the Peace Corps, Lutheran Volunteer Corps, and Americorps, and others are employed by the federal government. In addition, many have entered teaching or business careers. Faculty members work with all students to help them determine the career paths in which they are interested and the coursework that will help them get started.
