Facilities

Based in Ockham House, the philosophy department's faculty are active in a number of professional scholarly organizations, including the American Philosophical Association. Also productive scholars themselves, they present papers, chair conference sessions, and write for publication. Work published by members of the department in recent years includes a considerable number of books and many articles on a wide variety of subjects.

Students studying philosophy also benefit from many visiting lecturers. Some are hosted by the department and others are invited through various college-wide lecture series. Recent visiting lecturers in philosophy include Terrence Deacon (UC-Berkeley), Keith Yandell (UW-Madison), Bill Throop (Green Mountain College), James Mahon (Washington and Lee University), and David Williams (UW-Stevens Point).
