Most students planning to enter the health sciences require at least one year of college biology and one year of chemistry. Faculty members in both departments advise students concerning the requirements for professional or graduate programs.
Coursework: Most programs in the health sciences require at least one year of college biology and one year of chemistry. Other courses that are often required include organic chemistry, biochemistry, physics, mathematics, statistics, English, and psychology. Luther offers rigorous classes and excellent hands-on laboratory experiences in the sciences to prepare students for professional programs.
Luther students planning to enter the health sciences have an extensive selection of biology courses. Upper-level biology courses taken by many students pursuing careers in the health sciences include endocrinology, cell biology, development, histology, immunology, molecular biology, neuroscience and human dissection.
Luther offers affiliated programs in some of the health sciences. Students can attend Luther for three years and then enter some professional programs such as mediical technology, cytotechnology, nuclear medicine, dentistry, optometry or occupational therapy for degree completion and certification.
