Notice of a Tenure-Eligible Position in Art
Assistant Professor of Art History - full-time, tenure-eligible position.

Qualifications
Ph.D. required by September 1, 2010, with some studio experience preferred. An ability to address and integrate art theory and criticism is a plus. Candidate must be able to work collaboratively within a liberal arts environment with undergraduate students working toward a BA in art or other academic fields.
Responsibilities
Responsible for teaching a six course load that will include three art history courses and one studio course per year within the Art Department, with emphasis on contemporary art and visual culture, and one course outside the department. Includes supervision and management of the Luther College Fine Arts Collection (finearts.luther.edu), involving facilitation of collection as an instructional resource and responding to scholarly and research inquiries. The successful candidate will help develop a non-degree art history program that prepares art majors for graduate study and introduces all students to the historic role of art and visual culture. Student advising and committee work required.
Salary Range
Commensurate with academic qualifications and professional
experience.
