Notice of a Tenure-Eligible Position in Africana Studies and History
Assistant Professor of Africana Studies and History (a shared appointment in our Departments of Africana Studies and History). Tenure-eligible.

Qualifications
Ph.D. is required by September 1, 2010. The successful candidate should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and to maintaining an active scholarly agenda.
Responsibilities
Specialization is open, but teaching responsibilities will include a survey course in African-American history, a course in the history of the Civil Rights Movement, and other courses in the instructor’s area of interest. These courses are cross-listed between the Africana Studies and History departments. In addition, the candidate will participate in an all-college interdisciplinary course for first-year students. The teaching load at Luther College is six courses per year (spread over spring and fall semesters and a January term). Additional duties include advising and committee work.
Salary Range
Commensurate with academic qualifications and professional
experience.
