Notice of a One-Year Renewable Position in Biblical Studies

Visiting Instructor or Assistant Professor of Religion in Biblical Studies.

One-year position, with the possibility of renewal up to a term of three years.

Beginning Date
Late August 2010.

Qualifications
Ph.D./Th.D. preferred at time of appointment; exceptional ABDs will be considered (Instructor rank).  Teaching experience required.  Specialization may be in either Hebrew Bible or New Testament.  The successful candidate will have enthusiasm to teach introductory biblical studies courses and other undergraduate courses in biblical studies and religion. We are seeking a candidate who complements our current faculty in interests and expertise. 

Responsibilities
Full-time teaching load:  3 courses fall term, one course January term, 3 courses spring term.  Teach five sections of introductory Bible plus two additional courses designed according to interest and college needs.  Active engagement in scholarship and advising also expected.

Salary Range
Commensurate with academic qualifications and professional experience.

The Department of Religion has 11.5 full-time equivalent faculty and offers a major and minor. The College requires students to complete one course in biblical studies and a second course in religion. Normal class size is twenty-five students.  Students are also required to complete an interdisciplinary course or sequence of courses (Paideia II) with a focus on values and making ethical decisions.  Members of the department are encouraged to participate in this program.

Review of applications begins on February 8, 2010, and will continue until the position is filled.  The successful applicant will be required to complete Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9 of the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service.
