Valders Memorial Hall of Science

Valders Memorial Hall of Science, opened and dedicated in 1961, houses the departments of nursing, physics, and psychology. In addition to faculty offices, classrooms, and laboratories, Valders has a planetarium, at times open to the public, and a research-grade greenhouse. Principle donors for the building, Louis and Maude Olson, asked that it be named for the Valdres area in Norway and Valders, Wisconsin, where Mr. Olson's ancestors lived. With the opening of the adjacent Sampson Hoffland Laboratories in Fall 2008, the building will undergo renovation to provide improved classroom and laboratory spaces.
